Key Thought : Women were involved in Christ’s ministry to the world. Women are called to discipleship in serving and representing Him in their lives
1. Have a volunteer read Luke 8:1-3.
A. Ask class members to share a short thought on the main idea of this text.
B. How do women minister today unto Christ of their own substance?
C. Personal Application: Why are the women so willing to plan potlucks, conduct VBS, have church dinners, and serve in Dorcas centers in your church.
D. Case Study : One of your relatives states, “What kind of healing and deliverance would lead women to serve Jesus and minister to His disciples with their substance?” How would you respond to your relative?
2. Have a volunteer read Mark 5:25-34.
A. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
B. What are some of the challenges to using doctors and medicines to treat certain conditions?
C. Personal Application: Have you ever been able to overcome sickness or health issues through prayer? Share.
D. Case Study : One of your friends states, “Are Christians not supposed to go to the doctors, but just trust in God for healing like the Jehovah Witnesses believe? Will God take care of them if they need medical attention and reject it?” How would you respond to your friend?
3. Have a volunteer read Luke 10:38-42.
A. Ask class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
B. Is there a balance that should be reached between sitting and learning at Jesus feet and working to give others the good news and take care of their needs? Is philosophy and personal devotions sufficient without witnessing?
C. Personal Application : Have you ever been upset because you felt you were doing more than your share and other weren’t doing as much?
D. Case Study : One of your neighbors states, “Martha seems to be vilified in this story, but she’s just trying to get the preparations done and Mary’s not doing her part to help. It seems like Mary should be the one scolded for not doing her share.” How would you respond to your neighbor?
4. Have a volunteer read John 4:25-29.
A. As class members to share a short thought on what the main idea of this text is.
B. Is it still possible to reach and get the attention of a whole town through a prostitute, homeless bum, or mentally deranged criminal? Share.
C. Personal Application : How important is it to you to share the good news of finding Jesus with others? Is your love for Him still strong?
D. Think of one person who needs to hear this message. Tell the class what you plan to do this week to share with them.
